On average, it takes about 10 months from issuance of your building permit to complete a new home. Collins Homes will apply for your building permit and all inspection requirements on your behalf. Issuance or your building permit usually takes about 2-4 weeks.
Price per square varies depending on the style of home and materials desired, but a typical home we build typically ranges from about $200-$300 per square foot. Homes with second stories are less expensive to build because you save money on certain costs, such as, foundations and roof trusses. Split entry homes are a very cost-effective model.
If you have an approved building lot within our building area, we can build on your lot. If you don’t already have a lot, we have land you might consider, or we can help you find your lot in one of many popular local communities.
At Collins Homes, we do an onsite walk through with you. If there are waterways, such as, lakes, rivers, streams, we make sure extra precautions are taking for wetlands approval. We make sure, your septic field is set back to the right distance to prevent contamination. The site visit before construction helps determine how your house faces for positioning on lot, including considerations such as sunlight, driveway, trees, and waterview, if applicable.
Collins Homes has scheduled walk-throughs for you during construction, but you can also request an on-site visit of your home during construction as long as it is pre-arranged with a Collins Homes representative or with an approved realtor.
Scheduled walk-throughs includes an electrical walk-through that allows discussion and decisions around outlet and lighting placement, types of fixtures, intercom and sound, and generator hook-up if desired. A second walk-through involves trim work, includes mouldings, custom shelving, storage and feature walls.
